Day 1: Arrival in Leh – Acclimatization
Arrive at Leh Airport and transfer to your hotel. As Leh is situated at high altitude, dedicate the day to complete rest and acclimatization. Stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity and allow your body to adjust gradually. Overnight stay in Leh.
Day 2: Leh – Acclimatization & Local Sightseeing
Continue acclimatization with a relaxed sightseeing day around Leh. Visit Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace and selected nearby monasteries. Later, meet your trekking team and naturalist for a briefing about the Snow Leopard Trek, wildlife tracking techniques, safety measures and expected weather conditions. Overnight stay in Leh.
Day 3: Leh – Hemis National Park – Trek to Base Camp
After breakfast, drive towards the starting point of the trek and enter the Hemis National Park region. Begin trekking through dramatic valleys, rocky slopes and narrow gorges towards your designated base camp. Settle into the camp or homestay and become familiar with the surrounding terrain. Overnight stay in the trekking region.
Day 4: Snow Leopard Tracking & Wildlife Exploration
Start early with your naturalist and local spotters to search for signs of the elusive snow leopard. Scan rocky ridges and mountain slopes while looking for tracks and other evidence of wildlife movement. Along the way, you may also encounter blue sheep and high-altitude birdlife. Return to your base for an overnight stay.
Day 5: Wildlife Tracking – Hemis National Park
Continue exploring promising wildlife areas based on recent movement and information from local trackers. Spend time patiently observing distant ridges, cliffs and valleys with binoculars or spotting scopes. The flexible schedule allows the team to concentrate on locations offering the best possibility of wildlife activity. Overnight stay in the trekking region.
Day 6: Explore Rumbak Valley
Today, trek through the beautiful Rumbak Valley and surrounding high-altitude habitats. Explore different vantage points used for spotting snow leopards and their prey. Along with wildlife observation, experience the remote landscapes and traditional settlements that make this part of Ladakh particularly fascinating. Overnight stay in the Rumbak region.
Day 7: Snow Leopard Tracking & High-Altitude Wildlife
Begin another dedicated tracking session after breakfast. Follow the guidance of experienced spotters as they search mountain ridges and valleys for fresh signs of snow leopard activity. Himalayan wildlife such as blue sheep, mountain birds and other species may also be observed during the day. Overnight stay at camp or homestay.
Day 8: Wildlife Exploration & Photography
Keep the day flexible for wildlife observation and photography. Based on recent sightings and animal movement, explore selected valleys and observation points. The slow pace provides more time to appreciate Ladakh’s winter wilderness while maintaining a respectful distance from wildlife. Overnight stay in the trekking region.
Day 9: Final Tracking Day
Make the most of your final full day in the snow leopard habitat with another early tracking session. Explore promising areas identified by your naturalist and local trackers. Spend the day scanning the rugged Himalayan landscape and enjoying the silence and beauty of this remote wilderness. Overnight stay at camp or homestay.
Day 10: Trek Back – Return to Leh
After breakfast, begin the trek back towards the roadhead and meet your vehicle for the drive to Leh. On arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy a comfortable evening after several days in the mountains. Spend some time at Leh Market or simply relax at the hotel. Overnight stay in Leh.
Day 11: Leh – Departure
After breakfast, check out and transfer to Leh Airport for your onward flight. Your Snow Leopard Trek concludes with memorable experiences of Hemis National Park, remote Himalayan valleys, traditional Ladakhi settlements and an extraordinary high-altitude wildlife adventure.
