Day 1: Guwahati – Shillong
Arrive at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station and drive towards Shillong. Stop at the picturesque Umiam Lake along the way and enjoy the first glimpse of Meghalaya’s rolling green hills. Reach Shillong, check in to your hotel and unwind. Later, explore Police Bazaar and sample local food or shop for souvenirs. Overnight stay in Shillong.
Day 2: Shillong – Cherrapunji
After breakfast, travel towards Cherrapunji through beautiful Khasi Hills scenery. Visit Elephant Falls and selected viewpoints before continuing to Nohkalikai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls, Mawsmai Cave and Eco Park. Spend time admiring the dramatic cliffs, deep valleys and waterfalls for which the region is famous. Check in to your hotel in Cherrapunji. Overnight stay in Cherrapunji.
Day 3: Cherrapunji – Nongriat Living Root Bridge
Today is dedicated to one of Meghalaya’s most remarkable natural attractions. Travel to the starting point of the Nongriat trek and descend through forested hills and traditional villages towards the famous Double Decker Living Root Bridge. Spend time exploring the surroundings before trekking back. This excursion requires good physical fitness and involves many steps. Overnight stay in Cherrapunji.
Day 4: Cherrapunji – Mawlynnong – Dawki
Leave Cherrapunji and head towards Mawlynnong, where you can walk through the village and visit a nearby Living Root Bridge. Continue to Dawki and the beautiful Umngot River. When conditions permit, enjoy an optional boat ride on its clear waters. Check in to your accommodation in the Dawki or Shnongpdeng area. Overnight stay near Dawki.
Day 5: Dawki – Shillong
Enjoy a peaceful morning amid the river and hill landscapes before driving back towards Shillong. Depending on time and local conditions, stop at scenic viewpoints or waterfalls along the route. After reaching Shillong, check in and spend the evening exploring cafés, local markets and the lively surroundings of Police Bazaar. Overnight stay in Shillong.
Day 6: Shillong Local Exploration
Explore the different sides of Shillong with visits to Ward’s Lake, Don Bosco Museum, Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians and Shillong Peak or other selected attractions. The remainder of the day is free to enjoy the city at your own pace, shop for local handicrafts or relax in one of Shillong’s cafés. Overnight stay in Shillong.
Day 7: Shillong – Guwahati – Departure
After breakfast, check out and begin your return drive to Guwahati. Enjoy the final views of Meghalaya’s hills and countryside before reaching Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey. The tour concludes with memories of dramatic waterfalls, living root bridges, forest trails, crystal-clear rivers and the beautiful Khasi Hills.
