Day 1: Arrival in Varanasi
Arrive in Varanasi and transfer to your hotel. After check-in and some rest, head towards the sacred ghats of the River Ganga. In the evening, witness the traditional Ganga Aarti and experience the spiritual atmosphere of this ancient city. Overnight stay in Varanasi.
Day 2: Sarnath – The First Sermon
After breakfast, proceed to Sarnath, one of the most significant Buddhist pilgrimage sites. Explore Dhamek Stupa, the archaeological ruins and Mulagandha Kuti Vihara, along with other landmarks associated with Lord Buddha’s first sermon after enlightenment. Spend some quiet time within the peaceful complex before returning to Varanasi. Overnight stay in Varanasi.
Day 3: Varanasi – Bodh Gaya
Begin the morning with an optional sunrise boat ride on the Ganga before departing for Bodh Gaya. On arrival, check in at your hotel. In the evening, visit the Mahabodhi Temple complex and the sacred Bodhi Tree, where Siddhartha Gautama attained enlightenment. Overnight stay in Bodh Gaya.
Day 4: Bodh Gaya – Buddhist Monasteries
Spend another day exploring the spiritual heritage of Bodh Gaya. Visit the Great Buddha Statue and monasteries representing Buddhist traditions from different countries. Later, return to the Mahabodhi Temple area for meditation, prayer or personal reflection. Overnight stay in Bodh Gaya.
Day 5: Bodh Gaya – Rajgir – Nalanda
After breakfast, travel to Rajgir and visit Griddhakuta, also known as Vulture Peak, an important site associated with Buddha’s teachings. Continue to Nalanda and explore the extensive ruins of the renowned ancient centre of Buddhist learning. After sightseeing, check in at your hotel in the Rajgir/Nalanda area. Overnight stay.
Day 6: Rajgir / Nalanda – Kushinagar
Leave after breakfast for Kushinagar, the sacred destination associated with Lord Buddha’s Mahaparinirvana. Upon arrival, visit the Mahaparinirvana Temple and spend time in the peaceful surroundings of the temple complex. Check in at the hotel and relax. Overnight stay in Kushinagar.
Day 7: Kushinagar – Shravasti
Begin with a visit to Ramabhar Stupa and selected Buddhist monasteries before continuing to Shravasti. On arrival, explore Jetavana Monastery, Anandabodhi Tree and ancient remains connected with the years Buddha spent teaching here. Enjoy the calm atmosphere of this historic pilgrimage centre. Overnight stay in Shravasti.
Day 8: Shravasti – Lucknow – Departure
After breakfast, check out and drive towards Lucknow for your onward flight or train journey. Depending on the departure schedule, brief sightseeing in Lucknow may be possible.
