Day 1: Arrival in Varanasi
Arrive in Varanasi and transfer to your hotel. After settling in, spend the evening along the sacred ghats of the River Ganga and witness the traditional Ganga Aarti. The spiritual ambience of Varanasi provides a meaningful beginning to your Buddhist pilgrimage. Overnight stay in Varanasi.
Day 2: Varanasi – Sarnath
After breakfast, travel to Sarnath, where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon after attaining enlightenment. Visit Dhamek Stupa, the ancient monastic ruins, Mulagandha Kuti Vihara and other important Buddhist landmarks. Later, return to Varanasi and enjoy the remainder of the evening at leisure. Overnight stay in Varanasi.
Day 3: Varanasi – Kushinagar
Leave Varanasi after breakfast and proceed to Kushinagar, one of the four principal Buddhist pilgrimage destinations. On arrival, check in at the hotel and relax. Later, take a peaceful walk around the temple area and become acquainted with the serene surroundings of this sacred town. Overnight stay in Kushinagar.
Day 4: Kushinagar Buddhist Circuit
Dedicate the day to the sacred sites associated with Lord Buddha’s Mahaparinirvana. Visit the Mahaparinirvana Temple, home to the reclining Buddha statue, followed by Nirvana Stupa and Ramabhar Stupa. Continue to selected international Buddhist monasteries and spend some quiet time for prayer or meditation. Overnight stay in Kushinagar.
Day 5: Kushinagar – Lumbini
After breakfast, proceed towards Lumbini in Nepal, revered as the birthplace of Lord Buddha. Complete the required border and immigration formalities before continuing to the hotel. Later, explore the peaceful surroundings of the Lumbini monastic zone at leisure. Overnight stay in Lumbini.
Day 6: Lumbini – Buddhist Heritage Exploration
Begin the day at the sacred Maya Devi Temple, traditionally associated with the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama. Visit the Ashokan Pillar, Sacred Garden and monastic zones featuring temples built by Buddhist communities from around the world. Spend time walking through the tranquil complex and reflecting on its spiritual significance. Overnight stay in Lumbini.
Day 7: Lumbini – Shravasti
After breakfast, cross back into India and continue towards Shravasti. On arrival, visit Jetavana Monastery, Anandabodhi Tree and other archaeological remains associated with Buddha’s long stays and teachings here. Day 8: Shravasti – Lucknow – Departure
After breakfast, enjoy any remaining sightseeing in Shravasti before driving towards Lucknow for your onward flight or train journey.
