Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati – Local Exploration
Arrive at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station and transfer to your hotel. Later, visit the sacred Kamakhya Temple and spend some time exploring the Brahmaputra riverfront. In the evening, an optional sunset cruise can be enjoyed depending on availability and weather conditions. Overnight stay in Guwahati.
Day 2: Guwahati – Kaziranga National Park
After breakfast, drive towards Kaziranga National Park through Assam’s beautiful countryside. On arrival, check in to your wildlife resort and relax. Later, explore the nearby surroundings or enjoy an optional cultural programme showcasing traditional Assamese music and dance, subject to availability. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.
Day 3: Kaziranga Wildlife Experience
Begin the day with a safari through one of the permitted zones of Kaziranga National Park. Explore its vast grasslands, wetlands and forests while looking for the one-horned rhinoceros, elephants, wild buffalo, deer and colourful birdlife. Another safari may be arranged later in a different zone, subject to permits and availability. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.
Day 4: Kaziranga – Majuli
After breakfast, leave Kaziranga and continue towards Majuli. Complete the journey by road and ferry according to the local ferry schedule. After reaching the island, check in and settle into its peaceful surroundings. Spend the evening exploring nearby villages and experiencing the relaxed rhythm of life along the Brahmaputra. Overnight stay in Majuli.
Day 5: Majuli Cultural Tour – Jorhat
Explore Majuli’s cultural heritage with visits to prominent Satras and traditional villages. Learn about Assamese Neo-Vaishnavite traditions, local performing arts, mask-making, pottery and handloom practices where accessible. Later, take the ferry back and continue towards Jorhat. Check in to your hotel on arrival. Overnight stay in Jorhat.
Day 6: Jorhat – Sivasagar
After breakfast, travel to Sivasagar, the historic centre of the Ahom kingdom. Explore important heritage landmarks such as Rang Ghar, Talatal Ghar and the impressive Sivadol temple complex. The monuments and archaeological remains provide a fascinating introduction to Assam’s royal history and architectural legacy. Overnight stay in Sivasagar.
Day 7: Sivasagar – Guwahati
Leave Sivasagar after breakfast and begin the journey back to Guwahati. Along the way, enjoy views of tea-growing regions, countryside and small Assamese settlements. On reaching Guwahati, check in to your hotel. The evening is free for shopping for Assam tea, silk, handicrafts and souvenirs. Overnight stay in Guwahati.
Day 8: Guwahati – Departure
After breakfast, check out and transfer to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey. Your Assam Explorer tour ends with memories of the Brahmaputra, Kaziranga’s wildlife, Majuli’s living traditions, Jorhat’s tea country and the historic legacy of Sivasagar.
